My friends and family know my oatmeal breakfast bowl so well and a lot of them are as hooked as I am on this bowl, so I thought; why not share this recipe with you guys?
I have been eating this breakfast for at least 1,5 years now, EVERY f-ing day! It’s crazy and I really can’t get enough. Every morning I’m really happy that I can enjoy this delicious goodness once again and as soon as I’m traveling for a couple days I make sure to bring all the ingredients with me. My mornings ain’t starting without this princess no more.
There are a lot of benefits too! This breakfast meal keeps you pretty full for the whole morning. It causes a gradual increase in your blood sugar level, due to the protein and fats in oatmeal and almond milk. Besides that almonds contain vitamins and minerals which are super healthy.
I can’t imagine a life without anymore, so here’s the very, very special recipe.
80 grams oatmeal flakes
250 ml warmed up almond milk (I use sweetened, but you can also use unsweetened)
2 teaspoons ground flax seeds
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon hemp powder
10-12 almonds (you add more if you want of course, to get that extra bite)
And stir it all together before adding the toppings!
1 banana, sliced
1 cup blueberries
1/2 tablespoon natural peanut butter (I don’t always add peanut butter)
… And yummy-time!
It’s super easy to make, when all you need is a pan to warm up the almond milk and a bowl. I do warm up the milk, so it gets absorbed by the oatmeal flakes easily and the whole gets a porridge substance.
I have been addicted to eating Coco Pops (Kellogg’s) with milk for years, so since I went vegan I also had to say goodbye to that, but oatmeal has definitely conquered my heart! As I said, I don’t always add peanut butter on top, because the taste gets a lot heavier but hey, if you are a peanut butter addict, just go with it. Peanut butter is life.
You can also replace the banana with strawberries or other fruits, or add more fruits at once. Experiment and find out your own favorite taste and enjoy!
